Ingredients:
Dough:
1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
Filling:
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup sliced pepperoni
1/2 cup sliced salami
1/2 cup sliced ham
1/2 cup bell peppers (sliced, any color)
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
For brushing:
1 egg (beaten)
1 tablespoon olive oil
Additional dried oregano for garnish
Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the Dough:
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle (approximately 12x16 inches). Aim for an even thickness.
Add the Filling:
Sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly over the dough, leaving about an inch border around the edges.
Layer the sliced pepperoni, salami, and ham on top of the cheese.
Add the sliced bell peppers, followed by the grated Parmesan cheese.
Sprinkle dried oregano, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes (if using) over the filling for added flavor.
Roll the Stromboli:
Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough tightly into a log shape. Pinch the edges to seal and tuck the ends under to prevent the filling from escaping.
Brush and Score:
Place the rolled Stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
Brush the top with the beaten egg and drizzle with olive oil.
Use a sharp knife to make a few diagonal slashes on top of the Stromboli to allow steam to escape.
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the Stromboli is golden brown and cooked through.
Cool and Serve:
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Sprinkle with additional dried oregano if desired.
Slice into pieces and serve warm with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
Enjoy your homemade Italian Stromboli! Perfect for a family dinner or a fun appetizer for gatherings!
