Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund
WHAT IS SGLGIF?
The Seal of Good Local Governance Incentive Fund (SGLGIF) is a performance-based incentive program that provides financial support from the national government to Local Government Units (LGUs). It aims to encourage LGUs to improve governance performance and ensure that local development initiatives are aligned with national development priorities.
The SGLG Incentive Fund is granted to LGUs that successfully pass the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) assessment for the current year. The evaluation is conducted by the SGLG National Validation Team (NVT) under the supervision of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), in coordination with the SGLG Council, which is composed of various National Government Agencies (NGAs).
The SGLG Incentive Fund evolved from one of the long-standing flagship programs of the DILG known as the Performance Challenge Fund (PCF). Originally established in 2010, the PCF serves as a performance-based reform program designed to rationalize intergovernmental transfers from the national government to LGUs and to reward outstanding local governance performance.
