Seal of Good Local Governance
The Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) is a flagship program of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) that recognizes local government units (LGUs) which demonstrate outstanding performance in governance, transparency, accountability, and delivery of public services. The program encourages LGUs to uphold high standards of leadership and institutional performance while ensuring that development initiatives are inclusive, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of the community.
Through the SGLG, provinces, cities, and municipalities are assessed based on several governance areas such as financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, peace and order, environmental management, business-friendliness and competitiveness, and sustainable education. LGUs that successfully meet these standards are conferred the Seal as a mark of excellence and credibility in local governance.
The program aims to motivate local leaders to continuously improve public service delivery, strengthen transparency and accountability mechanisms, and promote participatory governance. By recognizing exemplary LGUs, the SGLG fosters a culture of performance-driven governance and reinforces the commitment of local officials to build resilient, progressive, and well-managed communities.
