Blizzard Beach

Thin Ice Drop Slides

A Trapdoor Water Slide

Thin Ice Drop Slides is a new water slide located in the former Lodge Picnic area. Themed as as a frozen over water tower Thin Ice Drop Slides takes the idea of falling through thin ice to the extreme with a trapdoor slide dropping guests down from 65 feet at an angle. This exhilarating experience is accessible by climbing up a series of stairs, or an elevator, up to the top of the water tower. Helixes of ice and snow swirl around and on the water tower, at one point even turning into an ice wall at the base of the tower allowing for more ice swirls and helixes to spread around the slides and ground.

Moana's Journey to Lalotai Layout

Located on the second floor is the a rethemed The Legend of the Falls to fit into the new Moana storyline. The cave entrance has received new detailing to resemble a circular opening similar to the one Moana and Maui jumped down into to journey to Lalotai.

Portal into Lalotai

Guests board a raft and float through the cave and magically go up a waterfall! Going up into a new cave the rocks are painted in purple and other various neon colors that glow under the black lights within the cave. Turning a corner in the the cave, guests encounter an animatronic of Moana. She greets guests, and thanks them for joining her on her journey to Lalotai for Tamatoa has managed to get his claws on her grandmothers necklace! Around Moana various purple bamboo plants and pink aloe plants with spots surround her, while in the background screens show various bat like creatures flying in the distance and a large kaiju looking creature crawling along the deep.

In the next scene guests float by a village of Kakamora. This cute yet deadly fiends are seen beating various drums with a couple of them bobbing up and down as if they were dancing. Large fern leaves run around the scene and through the Kakamora huts. Previously unseen by guests, angry Kakamora pop up from behind the leaves using they blowguns to shoot out water at guests. The Kakamora were likely angered by guests interrupting their part explaining the attacks.

Continuing through Lalotai and away from the Kakamora, the raft travels between glowing stalactites and stalagmites. Popping up from behind these rocky structures is a figure of the sloth monster from the film, he slowly sinks back into his place behind the rockwork after guests past him entering the next scene.

Sloth Monster

The next show scene involves large carnivorous plants . They completely surround the scene with some with their mouths wide open allowing for their drool to soak guests as they look at their dinner pass by them. Through the foliage a screen is worked in showing a bat monster flying between two carnivorous plants that are snapping at the bat trying to eat him. The raft sails out of the dangerous forest, and Moana comes into view. She stands near the entrance of Tamatoa's Lair, she tells guests to get ready as they're her distraction.

The raft floats into Tamatoa's Lair and guests are surrounded by various shiny treasures. In a screen worked into the props in the scene Tamatoa appears taunting guests, but quickly begging for them to come back as there were his dinner as the raft floats away and into a rapids. Racing through the rapids guests turn a few corners throughout Tamatoa's Lair passing by treasure and screens showing Tamatoa barely keeping up as he swings a claw at guests a few times. Exiting the rapids guests float past a screen showing a winded out Tamtoa conceding to the guests letting them live. As the raft turns the corner guests can see Moana proudly holding her grandmother's necklace, and thanks guests for their help and bravery in distracting Tamatoa giving her time to find it. The guests do down a drop and splash into Motunui Bay. Right before exiting guests will see a figure of Moana wishing them all safe travels.
