Beacons of Magic

Continuing a tradition started in Disneyland during their 50th Anniversary, all currently operating opening-day attractions and entertainment will be receiving an EARidescent overlay either for one of its ride vehicles or its attraction signage. Seeing as these attractions and entertainment will be turning 50 as well, it is fitting to celebrate that milestone by commemorating them as additional Beacons of Magic, an extension of Cinderella Castle and the magic that she holds within her towers and spires. In addition, a replica of the EARidescent ride vehicles will be placed outside their respective attractions as a PhotoPass opportunity for guests to pose in.

The following attractions/entertainment will be receiving EARidescent overlays for a ride vehicle or its attraction signage:

The Country Bears

Welcome one and all to Grizzly Hall home to the world renowned Country Bear Jamboree. Now this is a real fine show they got going on around these parts for the last say 50 oh so years, but the Country Bears have some new material and they're itching to welcome y'all right back in to their revamped show!

When experiencing Country Bear Jamboree guests won't notice the difference immediately as physically the lobby and theater have remained the same. Eagle eyed guests will be able to spot the new spotlights and lasers that make the show more of a concert experience adding some extra pizzazz for the younger viewers of the show. In addition a smoke machine has been added to the show, but more on that later. Some of the animatronics have received some cosmetic upgrades as well to play into the artists that played and popularized the songs they're performing.

For the most part most of the dialogue for a lot of the characters has stayed the same allowing for their original voices to remain. However some characters have had their lines rerecorded with a new voice actor due to new song choices, and in one scene a few new jokes were added in.

Cosmetic Changes

Trixie now has a beauty mark beneath the right side of her lip giving that iconic Dolly look as her current makeup isn't too far off. Wendell will be wearing a fisherman's hat with various bear themed lures attached to it, and a fishing pole in his arm. Teddi Barra now wears an emerald boa with a purple sun hat and umbrella. Shaker is now red in the face with sweat coming down his face, and he now dons an Elvis inspired vest from Elvis's less flashier days.

Script Changes

After Wendell sings his song he will proceed to say "OH! OH! I think I gotter a bittin!" As he pulls up his fishing rod it's a ratty old shoe with the sole coming off. Wendell defeated says "Awh shucks looks like old shoe for supper tonight!". This leads to Henry saying his classic line of " Yes, folks, we only have high-class stuff on this show. And now, here’s a special treat out of Tampa — our own Trixie!"

After Trixie finishes singing Jolene Melvin turns to the other mounted heads and says "Uh, is it just me or is getting hot in here?". After saying that line the curtains reveal Shaker as the smoke machine pumps out smoke from his stage leading into Shaker singing Burning Love as he is literally burning up! After his song Shaker says "Woweee it's done hotter than Georgia asphalt in here!". The curtains close as Max says "Good thing he's gone, it started smelling like buffalo burgers!", and Buff retorts "Now watch ya mouth Max, or you'll be the one on the menu!".

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

The finale that all fans have been clamoring for is finally debuting at Walt Disney World. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad's final hill through an abandoned hill will be redone. As guests enter the abandoned mine, wires stuck to the cave walls begin to light up thanks to projections. These wires trace up the hill into piles and sticks and crates of dynamite laying around the cave and stuck into every crevice that can be found. Soon explosion noises can be heard as steam shoots off from various parts of the cave in addition to flashes of light all simulating explosions. The final guests to exit the cave will be doused in a cloud of steam causing a surprise, but also a nice cooling feeling.

To allude to this new finale in the queue prospectors have left behind notes pointing out that those darn Tommy Knockers have gone and hidden their dynamite somewhere. A goat has also been added to join his brethren, but this goat will be chewing on a stick of unlit dynamite.

The Haunted Mansion

The Haunted Mansion is a classic Disney attraction. With its relatively recent refurbishment, it was improved in multiple ways, but as a fan-favorite attraction, the Haunted Mansion will be receiving more updates for Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary.

In addition to temporary EARidescent overlays, all Doom Buggies are being refurbished with brand new sound systems and more comfortable seats.

Disneyland's Hatbox Ghost can now be found at the Magic Kingdom as well! This advanced projection-based animatronic is a highlight of the Disneyland attraction, and fans are sure to love its inclusion in the Walt Disney World version of the ride.

In a crowd-pleaser change, the computer generated hitchhiking ghosts at the end of the attraction are being replaced with animatronic figures using a mirror effect, as they appeared before the 2011 refurbishment.

it's a small world

In it's a small world guests will notice that the Latin America scene has been reworked into being a new scene known as The Americas. Upen entering the new scene guests will notice to their right the generic Latin American buildings have been rethemed to look like buildings right out of the islands of Puerto Rico and Cuba. Guests will see a new doll dressed in a farmers hat and guayabera next to a cart of guava pastelitos which adds smell into the scene as well. The other new doll to this Caribbean section is a doll wearing a bomba dress that's red, blue and white.

The next change for The Americas is expanding into the first half of The Pacific scene. Which means that after exiting the jungle guests will now see to their left a miniature Blair-esque plywood Chinese Theater with the red carpet rolled out and a doll on the carpet dressed as a celebrity. Behind the theater are plywood cutouts of the Hollywood Hills with the Hollywood sign. Behind those hills are the snow capped mountains of Canada with an Inuit doll waving from above. On the other side is a small farm area with a replica of the cowboy doll from the final room present. Also present is a scarecrow waving to passerbys and a few chickens scattered around.

The Pacific scene has only lost the Moai head and a few harp birds, but it is more condensed now with dolls closer together. This is a positive as this room often felt barren due to the fact it has the least amount of dolls, but now that benefits it as now guests have more things to look at all at once.

To add to the rerideability of it's a small world new dolls based off beloved Disney characters have been added throughout the attraction. The following characters can be found within the ride:

Peter Pan's Flight

Peter Pan's Flight is finally receiving the upgrades it has so desperately needed. The soundtrack for the ride has been updated to play different pieces of music dependent on the scene guests are in.

When guests enter the nursery scene Peter Pan is seen flying up against one wall with Wendy flying up above the headrest of her bed. John and Michael are on the bed receiving their own pixie dust with fiber optics implanted into their design and projections beginning to light them up. As guests fly out the window pixie dust is projected all over the ships and the guests allowing them to fly into London. Upon flying out of the window guests will see a screen worked into the trees and houses where Peter and company fly away with Tinker Bell flying up and signaling for guests to follow. Nana has been turned into an animatronic who is now "midair" her bum is covered in pixie dust and she awkwardly wave goodbye. In reality to Nana flying her doghouse and rope and have been reworked into being able to support the weight of the new lightweight figure.

The City of London has been given new life as projections add cars driving on the streets of the city along with twinkling lights from within the various homes and streetlamps. Lining the walls of the room are new projections that show clouds rolling through the night sky. Flying through the clouds is Peter Pan, Tinker Bell and the Darlin Children they all wave at guests before they dip back into the clouds. Replacing the odd moon on a string are two large fiber optic stars with guests passing the second to the left when entering the Neverland portion of the ride.

The rivers and waterfalls running throughout Neverland are now flowing via the use of projections while the volcano glows a bright red and occasionally gets brighter or dimmer in color. Tiger Lily and her tribe have been replaced by a large tree representing Pixie Hollow. Here guests will be able to see projections of fairies flying by and around the tree.

Flying over the Jolly Roger, Wendy has been upgraded to a more advanced animatronic with a wider range of motion along with looking up at guests calling for help. In addition to Wendy, Captain Hook and Peter Pan have been upgraded to more advanced animatronics with the two having an actual swordfight now on the beams above. When guests fly above Tick Tock Croc the first time he will move forward and backward as if he were really swimming in the water, the swirls around him even move thanks to the use of projections. Upon flying back onto the Jolly Roger projection and newly implanted fiber optics bring the ship to life turning it into the golden variant as seen in the film.

Overall the changes aim to back Peter Pan's Flight more magical, and hopefully allow it to no longer be considered the worse of the Peter Pan Flights.
