As part of the 50th line up is a new version of the beloved Imagination ride, with a brand new story and setting. Guests entering the pavilion will notice the interior has become bright and colorful, with colors of the rainbow everywhere!
Some of the building's areas, such as the old Kodak photo area and some of the gift store area has been removed to make way for more ride space.
The line up to the dark ride is a colorful rope leading guests to the main room, once inside there's a giant screen with a preshow. Guests hear a woman's voice singing
"One little spark, of inspiration
Is at the heart, of all creation
Right at the start, of everything that's new
One little spark, lights up for you."
To play the role of Professor Pigment is Sofia Wylie, one of the actresses in High School Musical: The Musical The Series. With her poppy singing voice, she fits the role of the fun loving professor.
Professor Pigment: "Oh hello, I am Professor Pigment, a Dreamfinder! Dreamfinders are visionaries and inventors able to summon a very friendly dragon named Figment! Want to meet him?"
Of course, there's some audience interaction here, once guests say "yeah" to Pigment, she will begin to summon our favorite purple dragon.
Professor Pigment: "Okay!
Two tiny wings, eyes big and yellow
Horn of a steer, but a lovable fellow
From head to tail, he's royal purple pigment
And there, viola! You've got a Figment!"
Figment then arrives in a puff of smoke right above the Professor's left shoulder.
Figment: "Oh Professor Pigment, it's so good to see you! There's trouble over in Imagitopia!"
Figment notices the guests and flies up close to the screen's "camera"
Figment: "Oh and it's so good to see my friends here as well!"
Professor Pigment: "What's wrong Figment?"
Figment: "Oh it's just a disaster, some Gloomy Goblins have stolen all the color from Imagitopia! I was able to bring some of it back, but I need help!"
Professor Pigment: "Oh well we can bring it back, right everyone?"
After some more audience interaction, Figment sighs in relief.
Figment: "Thank you so much, but how are they going to bring it back?"
Professor Pigment: "Easy Figment, with my imagination I will make a vehicle with magic paintbrushes! That way they can paint back the colors!"
Figment: "Oh ho ho, how brilliant! Come on everyone let's go!"
Professor Pigment: "Nuh uh uh Figment, we are forgetting something."
Figment: "Huh? What?"
Professor Pigment: "The portal to Imagitopia!"
Suddenly some smoke appears and then a rainbow tunnel pops up. This is the portal to Imagitopia!
Once guests pass through the colorful tunnel, they arrive in a beautiful meadow, they are then guided by cast members dressed in colorful outfits into the ride vehicles. The former Journey into Imagination ride system and vehicles have been reused here, but some slight changes are visible. The ride cars are reminiscent to giant paint cans with silver being the body of the vehicles and the top being globs paint coming down and out of the sides of the ride vehicles. It should be noted that the paint will be different for each vehicle, and is just simple decoration similar to the honey on the ride vehicles for Pooh's Hunny Hunt. In addition to these cosmetic changes Imagitopia Paintbrushes have been tethered to each row allowing riders the chance to paint the ride, restoring color to Imagitopia in the process. The paintbrushes will work with a simple press of a button much like the paintbrushes used in Hong Kong Disneyland for the Paint the Night Parade. Despite the ride vehicles, the ride is not trackless and is a modified/updated version of the original's track layout, with the exception of the turntable that powered the introduction to Dreamfinder and Figment.
The first scene goes through the Imagitopia Gardens, those who visited the original imagination might recognize various sights in this beautiful place. From the elegant carousel to the hills filled with flowers. There are many places to fill with bright colors! An animatronic of Figment himself is helping out with a paint bucket, which he pours into a waterfall, while another animatronic of Professor Pigment is seen painting several flowers.
Following a colorful line of flowers, guests are then led to the Wild West Saloon, indicated by an old timey sign.
Inside the saloon are a group of cowboys and girls having a hoedown. This is achieved through simple figures that are turned around on small turntables. Shooting the paintbrushes at certain areas will cause many things to happen. Hitting glasses of rootbeer will make them topple over, hitting signs will make them spin around, and hitting wine will cause the wine to fizz up! The cowboys and cowgirls don't mind, they keep the party going with the new colors.
Outside the saloon an animatronic Professor Pigment is helping out a traffic jam caused by an angry horse, meanwhile a projection of Figment tries to bring some sheep back inside their pen. Looks like something happened when everyone was too busy partying!
Going ahead guests suddenly enter a rocket ship. 5....4....3....2...1 blast off! Using projections on the rocket's windows, guests are given a quick view from Imagitopia to space. Guests are now in a space city! Guests shoot at various floating buildings to give them color before entering a space home.
Inside the home are a bunch of plants hanging in planters, a robot butler, and the owner of the home who is playing a tune for his surprise guests. Professor Pigment is seen attempting to clean up any messes while another projected Figment is floating throughout the room, just trying to regain his balance before landing on a small planet.
Following the animatronic Figment's directions, guests are lead into a monochrome tunnel: this is the portal to the Gloomy Goblins' Lair!
The Gloomy Goblins' lair has scary things at every turn, but all of which are revealed to be illusions. An empty swinging cage reveals to have a butterfly, a scary shadow turns out to be caused by a black cat, gaps through the floor are reveled to be illusions caused by chalk drawings.
The guests finally find where all the Gloomy Goblins are at....as it turns out they're dancing in a colorful room! A bewildered Figment and Professor Pigment discover the Goblins stole the colors believing colors were the only thing to make them happy. Figment and Pigment then teach the Goblins that sharing the colors they love with others will make them happier! Now everyone is happy.
Through the rainbow tunnel guests return back to Imagitopia, now full of bright colors! All the characters they have met are dancing around Figment who sings the classic One Little Spark. Professor Pigment takes the guest's photo and the ride ends.
