Step into the world of tomorrow with this all new and fresh take on Tomorrowland featuring new attractions, dining, shopping and even updates to beloved attractions!
While plenty of things throughout the Magic Kingdom would receive updates or refurbishments, there is one place where a simple touch-up isn’t enough: Tomorrowland. This land has suffered for a long time with the hard challenge of seeming “futuristic” but becoming dated with each iteration, and now finding itself plagued by issues like mismatched IPs and no major dining options. Something must be done, so Imagineering has found inspiration in a particular vision of the future: Raygun Gothic.
For those unfamiliar, “Raygun Gothic” is a term that describes the sort of sci-fi action stories that were popular from the 1930s up to the ‘60s. Stories from around the world like Buck Rogers, Dan Dare, and Valerian all helped to give different visions to this style of sci-fi, and this style makes for a fantastic uniting theme for Tomorrowland. Not only is it thanks to there being a particular visual style associated with it, but also because Raygun Gothic stories had more of a whiz-bang excitement to them, offering thrilling adventures that were “out of this world”. It is just the right amount of fantastical and fun to help sidestep the issue of seeming out of date by embracing this timeless aesthetic.

To go with that, the land’s design aesthetic will draw heavily from these stories. The dominant colors that guests see are blues, teals, and greens, punctuated by bursts of red and gold to help draw the eye and give that pop of excitement. Meanwhile, angular Art Deco-esque metal reinforcements are added to buildings, giving a sharp, sleek look to the structures. It gives the land a distinct flavor that calls to mind a vision of Tomorrow that never was, and always will be.
