Mark 12:28-34
Two Greatest Commandments
28 One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
29 “The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
32 “Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. 33 To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”
34 When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, “You are not far from the kingdom of God.” And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.
1 John 4:8
God is LOVE
8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Trust is an important part of one's faith, so how does emotions fit in?...Can we trust our emotions versus trusting our reasoning powers?...Or is faith based only on our reasonable and logical mind?...Do emotions and faith mix?...Is there any emotion in our faith?...Or is and can there be a lot of emotion in one’s faith?...Can you trust in God with a lot of emotions at work inside of you…Faith requires us to believe in Truth and to Trust the Truth and the things we believe in…So how does one do this on the emotional side?...
I think that in heaven faith and Truth will meet…We will see God and Jesus in heaven, then our faith will become our Truth…Some say, if not many say, that Truth is Truth without emotion…For example, God is God, no matter what one's emotions are...Can someone say that Truth is also Truth without emotion?…After all some people are more emotional than others...So do they have a strong faith with all their emotions?…
For me, I think that belief and faith take both emotions and reason…God created us with both a logical and an emotional mind...That is why I think Jesus said, "Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’...The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’... There is no commandment greater than these."...Jesus speaks much of love here...So He wants us to us our hearts and our emotions in our faith...He says and teaches us to Love God...He says Love the LORD your God...Loving God makes us use our hearts...Using our hearts causes us to use our emotions, just as using our minds causes us to use our logic and reasoning...There has to be some sort of emotion, if not a lot, in our having faith in God...After all, God is LOVE...And LOVE is the greatest emotion of all...
