1 John 1:5-10
Walking in the light
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.
God is the light...Jesus is the light...Among the Godhead there is no darkness, no sin, not one speck...If we think we are sin-free we are lying and do not think or know the truth...Jesus is the truth and the light...
Even our best of days, when we pray and talk to Jesus and the LORD, we are sinners...Since man fell in the garden of Eden, everyday our lives are mixed and containers of sin...We cannot rid ourselves of this (sin)...But if we love our neighbors and share goodness and righteousness with them, and believe in Jesus as our Savior from sin, He will purify us and continue to purify us from our sins...
We cannot claim to be sinless, because God knows, and He is our judge...If we confess our sins to Jesus, who is our Reconciler and Savior from our sins, we can be saved...Jesus is the One God sent to speak for us and our sins...God made the ultimate sacrifice for us and our sins, when He sent Jesus to the cross...So we must confess our sinful ways and not be trapped into thinking we are good and sin-free...
A first step in getting closer to God is confessing our sins...This allows our faith to get stronger, because the One who saved us from sin, is the Son of God...He died for us, and He will purify us from our sinning ways...
The beginning of salvation is to acknowledge our sins and wickedness to God...Then we should seek Jesus and ask Him to pardon us from these sins and wickedness...He, in fact died for our sins...He came to save the world not condemn it...He is the One to purify us from all this unrighteousness...
Through the grace of God, if we walk in the light of Jesus, He will cleanse us of our sins...
