Matthew 26:36-46
Garden of Gethsemane
36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.”
39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.”
40 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. 41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
42 He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.”
43 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. 44 So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.
45 Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour has come, and the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”

Perfect LOVE Drives Out Fear
15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
19 We love because he first loved us.
When Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemane, I think He feared (and rightly so) for His life...He knew what was happening and going to happen...Jesus wanted to pray...Jesus wanting to pray to His Father (we know) is not out of Spiritual lacking...But He knows the power of God, His Father...So that night before His arrest in the Garden, He ask His Disciples for help and to sit while He went over to a nearby place to pray...He told His Disciples that His Soul was overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death...Then He said, "Stay here and keep watch with Me. "...Going a little farther, He fell with His face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from Me...Yet not as I will, but as You will.”...
Jesus was very close to His Father...Jesus, as we know, has this special relationship with His Father...And He prayed as He fell face down to the ground...And He went away a second time and prayed again, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may Your will be done.”...Jesus knew soon He would be delivered into the hands of sinners and be suffering on the cross...And because Jesus trusts His Father so much, we know that He relies on His Father's LOVE to save Him, even from death on a cross...God's LOVE and love is stronger than fear...And now He seems composed and almost ready as we hear Him speak...After these two prayers to His Father, He says this to His Disciples, "Rise!...Let us go!...Here comes my betrayer!”...Judas and the Roman soldiers were now coming to arrest Him...
Prayer can lead us to faith and maybe comforting to us...But the way of faith is not always a place of safety and doesn’t always lead to safety, but it surely leads to heaven...Prayer and faith are the path to Jesus and His Father...
