Matthew 18:19-20
Love Takes Two or More
19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
Hebrews 13:1-2
Show Hospitality to Strangers
1 Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. 2 Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
1 John 4:20
Loving our Neighbors
20 If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.
It is important that believers in Jesus talk about Him...When two or more are gathered in Jesus' name, He is there...These two or more people that are gathered in His name are doing good deeds, and maybe at the time do not even know it...Anywhere in the world, where two or more are talking about Jesus there is something going on -and in a positive sense...There is a Love that He brings...Jesus is everywhere and is omnipresent, so this Love can be happening anywhere and at anytime in the world... So when two or more believers are gathered together, something special is happening in the world, because our LORD is there...
C. S. Lewis in Mere Christianity wrote that Jesus works on us in all sorts of ways:...through Nature, through our own bodies, through books, sometimes through experiences which seem (at the time) anti-Christian...But above all, He works on us through each other...Lewis goes on to say that men are mirrors, or "carriers" of Christ to other men...Sometimes unconscious carriers...This "good infection" can be carried by those who have not got it themselves...People who were not Christians themselves helped me to Christianity...But usually it is those who know Him that bring Him to others...That is why the Church, the whole body of Christians showing Him to one another, is so important...You might say that when two Christians are following Christ together there is not twice as much Christianity as when they are apart, but sixteen as much...
God has made each of us different, so when we listen to others we can learn something different...So how Jesus works on us is unique, because His Father made us each unique...By gathering together and talking about Jesus and His Father it shows love, from each one's different perspective...And it shows love...Or as St. John puts it can we really love our Father, if we do not like our neighbor...Getting together with Jesus and talking and studying Him, helps us love and to learn about love, and to love better...And as Lewis says, sometimes we may not even realize it, because we are sometimes just an unconscious carrier of His Love...
