In addition to the Shop Orientation, you must receive Proficiency Training from Shop staff before using the wood lathes.
Wood lathes are used to make round or cylindrical shapes from wood, like legs for furniture, spindles, goblets, bowls, and much more.
The Rockwell/Delta 46-450 has a 12" (30 cm) swing and a 38" (96 cm) bed.
The Powermatic 90 has a 12" (30 cm) swing and a 37" (94 cm) bed.
The Delta 46-700 has a 12" (30 cm) swing and a 32" (81 cm) bed.
The shop provides a range of basic tools, including roughing gouges, parting tools, scrapers, skews, and detail gouges.
The shop offers drive spurs and live centers for spindle turning, and a variety of chuck and faceplate options for bowl turning.
