Art & Architecture Shop

The Art & Architecture Shop serves students, staff, and faculty from Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design and the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning for work on class projects and research.

It is a 6,000 square foot facility located on the first floor in the southwest wing of the Art & Architecture Building (2000 Bonisteel Blvd). A fully equipped woodshop with several stations of the most common wood working machines, the Shop also has a good complement of plastics and sheet metal working equipment, laser cutters for wood, paper, and plastics, vacuum forming machines, and an exhaust hood for work with materials that require ventilation. Working together with class instructors, the experienced shop staff oversees and guides all work in the shop. They provide on-going individual instruction in the safe and effective use of machines and tools and provide demonstrations and tutorials for class groups.
