Who can use the spindle sander? 

In addition to the Shop Orientation, you must receive Proficiency Training from Shop staff before using the sander.

What is the spindle sander used for?

This sander is best used to do light shaping  or smoothing on concave curved surfaces.

What spindles are available?

The Jet sander has six spindle options: 3/4", 1", 1-1/2", 2", 3",  and 4" diameters (19, 25, 38, 51, 76, and 102 mm).

What materials can be sanded?

Common materials include solid wood, engineered wood, hard foams, and some plastics. See packet for full list of restrictions. Materials subject to approval of shop staff. 

What materials are not allowed on the sander?

No metal, plaster, concrete, or fiberglass may be sanded.
