In addition to the Shop Orientation, you must receive Proficiency Training from Shop staff before using the jointer, as well as approval of each operation.
The jointer is used to make one face of a board perfectly flat. It can also make one edge flat and square to the reference face. It is typically used in conjunction with the planer to mill stock to final dimensions.

Wood must be at least 10" (25 cm) long and 1/4" (6 mm) thick to joint safely, subject to approval of shop staff. See packet for full list of restrictions.
The jointer is 16 inches (40 cm) wide.
