Harnessing Visual Analytics for Enhanced Winter Road Safety: A Framework for Continuous Road Surface Friction Estimation

Description of thesis:

The goal of this thesis is to present a framework that generates continuous friction values from winter road surface images. This framework consists of three components: an image-based friction model developed through tree-based algorithms, a friction interpolator that can transform limited point measurements into continuous values, and a binary collision model that identifies sections prone to crashes.
