The class has a great handle on classroom rules and routines! They rarely need reminders any more! If a child does need constant reminders for a behavior, and hey it happens to all of us sometimes, their monster in ClassDojo will also get a reminder.
ELA - We are working on different lines and pencil strokes that help with our handwriting and drawing. We have practiced vertical lines, horizontal lines, curved lines, and diagonal lines, cup, hump, zig-zag, wavy, spiral, and loop. Students have practiced going left to right, top to bottom, and curving to the left in our writing.
Students have also been working on writing on handwriting paper. This paper helps our handwriting to be more uniform. When we write our letters we talk about the types of lines needed to write each letter. For example an uppercase t is a vertical line from the top blue line to the bottom red line and a horizontal line across the top.
Math -We have wrapped up creating and extending patterns. Students have done this with manipulatives at their desk, on IXL, and writing and drawing on paper.
Science- We finished our 5 senses focus this week by talking about taste and touch. Students were encouraged to go on a 5 senses walk and share what they had experienced on their walk for each of the 5 senses.
Bible Study - We learned about God's promise to Abraham. God promised Abraham that all people would be blessed through his family because the Savior would come from his descendants. We also learned that God gives all His children the blessing of the Savior.
Art - Students explored using oil pastels this week and had fun learning that our "special crayons" could be spread out or smudged when we make a picture. We also worked with markers on coffee filters and then created a tie-dye effect by dropping water onto the marker to spread it out.
Students continued enjoying taking Brain Breaks and dancing to some silly songs on GoNoodle. After the 10th song we do on that site our avatar grows! We know that we need to exercise our bodies and this is a fun way to do it!
Students have learned some more with Mojo on ClassDojo.

No NFL jackets, hats, sweatshirts, etc.. This is for NFL teams only. It will be fun to see which teams are campus favorites!
FALL BREAK TRAVEL
As fall break approaches, we wanted to remind our families that if you have plans to travel off island, the State of Hawaii currently requires a 14 day quarantine upon your return to O’ahu, through the end of September. If the quarantine requirement extends into October; we will share that in our weekly newsletters. If you are traveling, please notify Mrs. Flores, cflores@tls-hawaii.org per our COVID-19 Handbook procedures.
