Week of October 12th

I encourage each family to read with their child each night for 10 minutes. Reading is a great way to slow down and spend some (hopefully) uninterrupted time with your child. Let the child choose a book and ask why they chose it or what they think it will be about. Encourage them to share thoughts about the story/characters while you are reading.

As we get back into the school day routines ( I have a feeling kids might be a little tired by the end of the school day), this week, I will give a few suggestions of activities for homework.

Starting next week, there will be a tic-tac-toe board with activities in each square. Students are encouraged to complete activities throughout the week to get a tic-tac-toe.

Homework suggestions for this week:

  • Rainbow write their first name, last name, numbers 0-4, or favorite word. (see ClassDojo for an example of rainbow writing)

  • Type out the Bible Words/Memory Verse for this week. "For those who love God all things work together for good." Romans 8:28

  • Record your child sharing about a book that they read at home. They could tell the name of the book, what it is about, and their favorite part.

  • Practice stretching/sliding and blending the following words: cat, mat, ship, meet, face, see, nose, man, can, hip, chip, met, let (see the stretching/sliding/blending video clip on ClassDojo for an example.)
