ELA - Students continued to practice how sometimes when s is at the end of a word it makes the /z/ sound instead of its own sound. Students also practiced when they see " 's " at the end of someone's name it means that the next thing they read belongs to that person. For example we read a story called "Kit's Cats" so we knew that they cats belonged to Kit they were not just cats that she was playing with.
Students have started reading through our new classroom reader book "Kit" they are working to read the stories "Kit", "Kit and Stan", "Kit's Hats" and "Kit's Cats" These are stories that contain words the students can all decode on their own.
Math- Students are continuing to work on solving addition sentences. Students are using various strategies like using a number line, drawing a picture, and using a tens frame.
Bible Study - Students studied the stories of Holy Week including Palm Sunday, The Last supper, Jesus Praying in the Garden, Jesus being Arrested, Jesus dying on the cross and Jesus rising from the dead.
Science - Students learned about composting and about different kinds of pollution. They also learned more about recycling and what happens to the different things that go into recycling.
Students are also learning about the 4 seasons and the different characteristics of each season.
Art - Students painted about the 4 seasons with their watercolors.
7th - **Changed to a full day of school** Students can free dress if they wear Aloha attire and are encouraged to wear lei in lieu of an in person May Day celebration.
