ELA - We continued working on our unit about Nursery Rhymes and poems. This week we focused on learning "Jack be nimble, Jack be quick" and "Little Jack Horner"
This week we continued working on decoding (sounding out and blending back together) CVC words. Students looked at pictures of items then chose the word that goes with the picture, decoded a word and chose the picture that it goes with, isolated beginning, middle, and ending sounds, and circled the word that was dictated to them.
We are continuing to focus on individual letters, letter sounds, and writing each lowercase letter on handwriting paper. We reviewed all the letters we have worked on so far: x, y, j, w, u, m, a, t, o, d, c, g, i, n, s, f, h e, p, z, l, b, r and v. We have also been working daily to stretch/slide and blend words based on the letter sounds we hear. Check out the video on ClassDojo (in the Helpful Links for Homework Activities event) to see what stretching, sliding and blending looks like.
Students are also working to differentiate between vowels and consonants. Sometimes we write our CVC words (consonant, vowel, consonant words) with a red and blue crayon. The consonants get written in blue and the vowels in red.
Math- We started a unit on graphing. We have collected and organized data and then used that data to fill in graphs.
Bible Study - We learned the story of when Jesus was studying God's word at the temple and His family couldn't find Him. During the feast of Passover Jesus was in the temple, talking with the teachers. God gives us teachers to help is grow in the knowledge and understanding of His Word.
Art - We created our own plum pie based on the Nursery Rhyme "Little Jack Horner"
