ELA - We continued working on our unit about Nursery Rhymes and poems. This week we focused on learning "Ring around the Rosie"
This week we continued working on decoding (sounding out and blending back together) CVC words. Students looked at pictures of items then chose the word that goes with the picture, decoded a word and chose the picture that it goes with, isolated beginning, middle, and ending sounds, and circled the word that was dictated to them.
We are continuing to focus on individual letters, letter sounds, and writing each lowercase letter on handwriting paper. We reviewed all the letters we have worked on so far: m, a, t, o, d, c, g, i, n, s, f, h e, p, z, l, b, r and v. We have also been working daily to stretch/slide and blend words based on the letter sounds we hear. Check out the video on ClassDojo (in the Helpful Links for Homework Activities event) to see what stretching, sliding and blending looks like.
Students are also working to differentiate between vowels and consonants. Sometimes we write our CVC words (consonant, vowel, consonant words) with a red and blue crayon. The consonants get written in blue and the vowels in red.
Math- We worked on identifying 2 equal parts (halves).
Bible Study - We learned the story of Simeon and Anna from Luke 2:22-38. Simeon and Anna waited for God to keep His promise and give His people a Savior. God sent Jesus to save all the people of the world, giving us peace.
Art - We started creating our own 3D "Pocket full of Posies"
