ELA- We are continuing to focus on individual letters, letter sounds, and writing each lowercase letter on handwriting paper. We worked on c and g during the week while continuing to work with the letters we have worked on so far: m, a, t, o, d, c, g, i. We have also been working daily to stretch/slide and blend words based on the letter sounds we hear. Check out the video on ClassDojo (in the Helpful Links for Homework Activities event) to see what stretching, sliding and blending looks like.
Students are also working to differentiate between vowels and consonants. Sometimes we write our CVC words (consonant, vowel, consonant words) with a red and blue crayon. The consonants get written in blue and the vowels in red.
Math- We continued really focusing on our number writing (formation) and number words. All together we have worked on numbers 0-8.
Social Studies- We began a unit on Journeys! We are continuing to learn about the journey of the Puritans (Pilgrims) and their hope for a new land where they can have religious freedom.
Bible Study- We learned the story of God's Law the Golden Calf. (Exodus 19-20; 32; 34) God gave His people the Ten Commandments, telling them to have no other gods beside Him but they worshiped another god. God loves us and knows what is best for us. God wants His children to obey Him, but since we're not perfect, He sent Jesus to be perfect in our place.
Challenge Island Visit! - We were blessed to have Ms. Erica from Challenge Island come and do an in class field trip. We got to listen to the story "We are All Wonders". She discussed the fundamental themes of the story including empathy, tolerance, acceptance, and choosing kindness. The students used the Growth Mindset to build a foam rocket. The challenge was to launch a foam rocket using elasticity and adjust the angle of the rocket in order to hit a target.

No NFL jackets, hats, sweatshirts, etc.. This is for NFL teams only. It will be fun to see which teams are campus favorites!
