Curriculum Intent:

To inspire students to pursue a life enriched by music making at the same time as giving them the knowledge and skills to successfully continue the study of music at KS4 and beyond.

Underpinning our curriculum is a set of guiding principles that inform teacher styles and the shape of pupil experience. They are:

  • Vocal work as an every present thread.

  • Experiencing music from within before analysing from the outside

  • Music being a dominant language throughout with high quality music modelling doing the talking.

  • Affording equal value to different music traditions, styles and cultures.

  • Setting tasks that reflect music making in the real world, and connect to students' existing relationships with music
