Scratchboard

The subject of my project is a picture of my cat, Gary, she's laying on a white blanket and the background is just stripes. I used scratchboard as the paper, and a scratching tool to scratch out the drawing. I thought that doing my cat would be challenging, and it definitely was, and I like to challenge myself in art, so that's pretty much why I chose her.

I used the grid technique on both the photograph and the paper I would be using to draw out the picture. I didn't change much with this project, I just followed the grid lines, and drawing what I saw in each little square until eventually all of it came together.

Mrs. Medsker wanted us to choose a photo that we took, turn it into black and white, and then scratch out the picture, so that was all I did. My project relates to my life because it is my cat, and I also really enjoy drawing my cat, I feel like with each project it gets more difficult. I would for sure spend less time getting the white perfect if I could change anything, just because it was super time consuming. But, overall I am happy with the final look of my project.
