Tropical Island

The subject of my project is supposed to be a tropical island with two palm trees on the little "sand bar" I guess you could say. I mostly only used acrylic paint and graphite, I also used a silver oil based Sharpie to outline the shapes I painted in. I really like tropical things, I really enjoy palm trees, water, etc. Anything that has to do with beaches, or tropics I love it.

I used the rule of thirds technique by putting a bunch of different shapes on the paper, splitting up the palm trees, the island, all so that there's a section for each color. I started with just an abstract painting in mind, but then I thought it would be boring so I decided to add an island on top of each of the abstract with trees and a sun.

I started with the idea of having an island but then I realized that it wouldn't be the best choice because there was a chance not every color could fit, so what I did was add abstract on the back of the island, even though abstract was my first choice in the first place. I really like colors/artwork that pops out to me, so having done this project i tried to make it as vibrant as possible, even though it didn't really work. I think I would change a lot about my current project, I would make the paint look bolder, and cleaner. I would also try to make the design a little but more creative than it is.
