Beautiful Oops

My piece was inspired by a flower, as you can see at the top. I then started to think about tropical biomes, and thought of a waterfall, a boat, the ocean, and some more tropical flowers. I created this piece by using just a simple piece of drawing paper, then added some pop of colors to it using colored pencils. I chose to create this piece because I love tropical destinations, and that’s typically what I think about when I think of flowers. As you can see, I started to make a box around what I was sketching, I love the thought of globes and things like that. It obviously doesn’t look like a globe, but it looks enclosed, which makes me enjoy my artwork more. I especially love light and vibrant colors, which is why I tried using them as much as possible with this piece. I also used red as the solid background because I thought if i would have done it lightly it would’ve gone well with the light yellows and blues.

In this piece I tried to include Selective Focus because I love the look of one thing being completely focused on, and then another thing looking not so bold, or focused. I tried to make the waterfall that I included as bold as possible, and I also tried to make the yellow that is acting as the sky in a way, as bold as possible because I just think that yellow is such a pretty color, especially in art. During the sketching of my drawing I had to figure out where everything would go together, and as I kept sketching I everything come together. Such as, the boat, the “sky,” the waterfall, and even the flowers. I didn’t change one thing in this drawing because it was abstract and I wanted it to look weird if it were to turn out weird, which I personally do not think it did.

There really isn’t much of a story behind this piece, it honestly was my imagination becoming reality on the paper. As I kept drawing I just kept thinking about anything that was tropical and whatever I could think of, I tried to incorporate it with my drawing. This drawing relates to my life because I have always wanted to go to Hawaii, so when I draw, I could use my imagination and use the vision that I have to create shapes, colors, etc. I think that I could’ve had a lot more shapes included in this drawing. I think that I for sure would have added more colors, shapes, and maybe made the background more eye catching. Overall me being not as artistic as I would like to be, I think that this is one of the best pieces I have ever created.
