The main idea of these drawings was to create space or value in some sort.  For my Negative Space Leaves, I showed the negative space of the leaves and a fall background to represent the autumn feel with the leaves closer up.

My materials used for this artwork varied in a few different materials. My most used was a Sharpie Gel Pen on drawing paper. For my main Negative Space Leaves artwork, I used Sharpie Gel Pen to make the leaves pop out more then went ahead and made the whole background have watercolor to create a more fall look so the colors blended in more and the leaves look more realistic. At the end, I put colored pencils to make the details pop out more.

For this project, I thought of many different ideas I could have done for the background of the leaves. I had thought more of a fall theme would match the best since that's the season right now and leaves fit perfectly with that. I experimented with different colors to get the right fall leaf look on the trees and ground and had a bridge cross over the water to have something different in the scene instead of all leaves. I chose to outline mostly the bridge and trees with colored pencils to give it more depth and shadow to bring out its detail and not have it be left behind the colorful leaves. Toward the end, I had a dilemma where the watercolor got inside some of the leaves. To improvise I thought of making those splotches holes to match the others and seem like it wasn't even there.
