For this artwork, the main idea that guided me through this piece was the picture of candies I placed together to try and recreate it on another piece of paper.
The materials I used to create this artwork were a graphite pencil, colored pencil, and white gel pen on watercolor paper. I used the graphite pencil to begin the outlines and some of the tinier details of the candies. I chose to use colored pencils because it is a little easier to get the shades you want a blend them. The white gel pen was a nice touch to add a more realistic shine to it.
I chose to have these candies at angles to get more of a feel for them when I drew them. I also liked using the white gel pen with the colored pencils because I think it made it look more realistic than it would if I only used a marker. At first most of the colored pencil parts were see-through, but the more I burnished them into the paper, the better the color came out.
