Sharpie and oil pastels on Drawing Paper

9" x 12"

For this artwork, the main idea that guided me through my artwork was the blind sketches that I made with the Sharpie. I wasn’t sure exactly what I was going for, but it was a bit more abstract than I expected.

The materials I used for this artwork were Sharpie, regular drawing paper, oil pastels, and a little bit of watercolor. I used Sharpie to make my blind sketches and tried to see what I could make with it. For the oil pastels, I made shapes and colored different things around the design. For the little bit of watercolor, I used it on the hands to give more of a skin tone look.

During the process of my drawing, it was hard to think of what I could make out of what looked like a bunch of scribbles. At first, I was going to color random shapes in the artwork, but then I saw the hands looked connected to the scribbled faces so I made it look somewhat like puppets. Once I saw that, I started to make designs around the faces with bright colors and shape them to look somewhat like puppets.
