Artist Statement

The main idea that guided my artwork thinking about the wolf as an animal, I felt like the darker lines connected more to the "lone wolf" vibe, so I chose to put the darker areas at its head and heart area to symbolize the wolf more.

I made this artwork starting on a 12" x 9" piece of paper, then I researched animal silhouettes and chose a fox. I found a fox I liked and printed it. Then I used a light up tracing pad to trace the fox outline onto my white paper using a graphite pencil. After that I though I wanted to do a bunch of different designs and doodles for the 10 value sections on the foxes body but in the end I decided to do for the most part, straight lines. after I had all my sections lines drawn I took a fine point sharpie and went over all the lines, making them darker. I did lots of pencil revisions on my fox because it took a while to get the lines the right size.
