Artist Statement

The main idea that guided this piece of artwork was the top of the splatter, when I looked at it I thought of Bobby the Elf from Harry Potter so I decided to do some type of elf/fairy.

When I made this piece of artwork I started on a piece of white paper with a random ink splatter on it. I looked at the splatter to envision what I saw and they I used a 6B graphite pencil to draw big elf ears and feet, then I used the same pencil to draw the arms and the wing outline. After that I used a fine point sharpie to add another leg. And then used pink, purple, light orange, and red to color in the elf fairy.

When I first received the paper with the ink splatter I had to figure out what I saw in it and what I wanted to turn it into. I first saw and elf and drew the ears and then changed my mind and turned it into a fairy. I looked up fairy wings on my laptop for ideas and once I had an idea of how I wanted them to look I drew them on the paper. At first I thought I was going to do the wings all one color but then changed my mind and did three colors instead.
