Artist Statement

The main idea of this artwork was drawing a charcoal photo of my dog and capturing the shadows.

To create this artwork I started by printing out a photo of my dog and putting it in black and white, then I drew a grid across the photo and did some math for how big the border should be on the piece of paper I would be drawing on, once I figured that out and made the border and the squares I used graphite pencils, charcoal, paintbrushes, paper towels, and tortillons to blend.

Some revisions I made was going back and making my dog darker and erasing fingerprints and smudges along the side to make it look neater.
