The ideas that are visually evident in my work are just what my prompt was, a lizard body, mouse head, and caterpillar feet. I found it hard to stretch outside of the direct prompt for this one because none of those things include very much detail, so I really just stuck to the basics. It doesn't relate to my life in any way, I just started drawing and saw where it took me. I chose to keep it simple because when I tried to add color and more detail to my first draft, it ended up looking sloppy and defeated the purpose of what the actual prompt is.
The material I used was just plain graphite pencil, no color. When I did try adding color and using other materials on my first draft, it ended up looking very rushed, messy, and it took away from the detail. Because there was only so much I could do with the prompt I was given, I stuck to the basics and went with just regular pencil.
The process I used was quite simple, I went through each component, trying to draw them as best I could, then I found a way to combine them together. I started with the body first, trying to really incorporate the lizard shape and curl to it, and then I moved onto the mouse head which seemed to be the most difficult part. Shaping the head and adding the details to make it as realistic as possible was the challenging part of the drawing. I then added the caterpillar feet, which are basically just little stubbs, very plain and no visible detail. I combined them all to make a first draft then moved on to a final draft with darker and more precise lines.
