Path to the Light

Colored Pencil

12" x 9"

The deeper theme or meaning in this piece is showing the path of darkness that eventually leads to light. This shows how sometimes life is hard and you have to go through a lot, but with hard work and persistence, there's always light at the end of the tunnel. I think this project relates to everyone's life in some way, we've all been through stuff that we have to get through to finally reach that light at the end of the tunnel.

The materials I used were just pencil and colored pencil. I started off with pencil of course, tracing all of my lines and forming my ideas as I was sketching. Then as I moved onto the colored pencil, some of my ideas even changed a bit so I improvised with what I had already drawn and changed it a little. The colored pencils gave me the ability to do light drawing work and not have the colors be too bold which I like.

Like I said in the previous paragraph, I started of sketching with pencil and then moved onto colored pencil. My whole drawing started with me noticing that the ink blob looked like a footprint, I just took it from there. I created a path and made it dark along the path, then drew a beach and sunset at the end of the path as if it reached the light.
