Drawing Paper, Marker

Unlike the linoleum prints, there wasn't a whole lot of thought or planned design for these Gelli prints. This was sort of creating as you go and using different materials to create varying designs. The two different images were created in very different ways but I think they turned out cool. They aren't all that complicated or detailed, but they're fun looking and it was pretty satisfying and neat to do.

For the print on the left, I used printer ink and rolled it onto the entire surface of the Gelli pad, using light blue ink. I then placed a fishnet over and down on paper. The fishnet made it so not all of the fishnet transferred and left a cool looking design. After the printed design was on the drawing paper, I used a black pen to manipulate the design and I just made some extra shapes and lines. The image on the left is of my marker Gelli print design, which was my favorite one to do. It's very simple but comes out super neat at the end, by just drawing with a washable marker directly onto the Gelli pad, pressing a piece of paper down, and lifting it up to create a design. Again, this isn't a very complicated design but I like how colorful and fun it is.

These prints and the creating process for them isn't very detailed or difficult, but I still like them and it was fun to make them. The looseness with the designs and the simplicity within the process makes it fun. I also liked how many time you could try over again. This gave the freedom to try over again if the first one didn't come out how you wanted it to. After making lots of prints, I picked out my favorite couple and those are the ones I chose for my portfolio.
