The 4 Seasons

Pencil, Colored Pencil

10" x 6"

This is a drawing of the use of the negative space around some leaves I found outside. This project relates to my life because because I found these leaves in my own yard, and also I think that in everyone's life it's important to focus on what's happening in the background, not just what immediately what is apparent to the naked eye.

My work first started with me going outside and finding some leaves. Once I had done this, I arranged them on a piece of paper and traced that outline on a seperate piece of paper. Once it was traced, I had to create a design for the negative space, and the design I went with was a seasonal color scheme divided into 4 parts.

The biggest parts of my drawing was tracing the leaves as best as I could, and then deciding to use the seasonal colors. It evolved only in the way it was meant to, taking the steps necessary to create this piece. Some more steps I could take could be darkening the lines of my leaves and shading around the edges.
