Zoomed & Cropped Shoe

Graphite on drawing paper

Abstract Shoe

on printmaking paper

11" x 14"

For the zoomed cropped shoe, used a viewfinder on a picture of a shoe, and enlarged it on paper. I then did the same step with the previously zoomed image. Then, I picked my favorite out of the three zoomed images and copied it on an 11 by 14-inch sheet of paper. Lastly, I created something out of the 11 by 14 zoomed picture.

For materials, I used a ruler to measure the lines, graphite to sketch, and a pen to outline the edge lines and big lines. I used a viewfinder to pick a spot on the shoe drawing and enlarged it three times. I used drawing paper and printmaking paper for these two assignments. For the three zoomed images, I just used a viewfinder and enlarged what was inside of it. I then picked my favorite one, enlarged it, and made an art piece out of the few lines it had.

The three zoomed drawings were pretty normal enlarging tasks. The only trouble was having the ratio right between the drawings, not much else interesting to say. The abstract shoe, however, was much more creative. I thought about what to draw for a bit, then decided to draw a scale-like pattern for the four tube-like parts on both sides. Too far in though, I learned that this was not the wisest thing to make myself draw, It was triangle after triangle, just enough to make me focus, but not enough to grab all of my attention. So after that, I decided to go with a different design, and I did an animal skin theme. I drew the zebra pattern, then the e giraffe pattern after that.
