Wire Sculpture

Wire Tower

For this wire sculpture, I didn't have much in mind for what I wanted to make, I just knew it had to be small because I had missed this unit and had to remake the work. So I decided to go with a simple cylindrical-shaped tower. I was originally going to make one end have a point, however, I could not figure out how to connect three pieces of wire into a point, so I scratched that idea.

I only used three materials for this project, wire, wire cutters, and needle-nose pliers. Other than that, I used my hands for some of it, because this is a very hands-on-oriented project. The majority of it was using these few tools to mold and connect the wire to get the desired shapes that you wanted. I enjoyed using fewer materials and just being able to jump in, it was good to not have to juggle a lot of things.

The process to make this art was simple mentally and physically. I didn't do any research or anything like that, the only things I did were experiments. I used the fishhook connection I was instructed to use, however, I ended up using a much smaller hook because I found that the bigger ones wouldn't stay in place and would move or even fall off sometimes. I also decided to try and make a point with three pieces of wire, which ended up not working because I couldn't figure out how to make them all connect at a point, I did try to though. Other than that this project was really simple and straightforward.
