Assemblage Sculpture

Light Katana

This assemblage project was to put it lightly, different. I missed two weeks due to covid so I had to make up this project and I thought the easiest thing I could use was legos, so that's what I did. I went through many phases of trying to figure out what I wanted to do for the sculpture, I knew it had to be smaller scale because I had a lot of work to make up, but I also wanted it to turn out ok, so I tried to find smaller things I could do that would look cool. I ended up going with a katana-designed collage made of legos, it was a good size and looked good in my opinion.

Materials for this project, are literally just legos. I didn't use anything else for this project other than lego.

I originally wanted to do something more detailed, but I settled on this because I liked the idea and how it was simple to make. I experimented what the handle first because I wasn't sure how long and what design I wanted. and ended up going with a brown coloring to reflect wood. Then I had to decide what I wanted the tsuba and blade to be, I used a wheel because that gave the circular shape of the tsuba and it also looks cool, then I went with that blade because it's the only lego that long I could find. After I put it all together, that was it.
