I had to draw three views of a shoe (aerial, side, and front) in pure contour, and I also had to draw my hand holding a rubber band. For both, I used similar techniques to draw because both objects were in life, and close to my face. Pretty straightforward assignment.
For materials, I used graphite on both, as well as normal printer/ drawing paper. I used an HB and a 2H pencil to sketch out three views of my shoe, and my hand in life. After the light sketch was done, I darkened the lines with a bold line created with a 4B pencil. For all four drawings, I started out with a light sketch of rough shapes. I then started to get more precise until I had a good sketch of the shoe/hand. After this, I went back over the pencil with darker graphite and darkened the lines. I erased some of the leftover sketchy lines then I was done.
For all three of the shoe drawings, nothing special happened, I just drew what I saw, sketched then drew over it in a darker pencil. Same with the hand holding a rubber band, the only semi-creative part was how I positioned my hand. Both of these assignments were mainly technical and less creative, so not a lot went on in my head when making these.
