In the first piece you can see the different wrinkles and details in my hand. It relates to me obviously because it's my hand and my elastic. The elastic is actually special to me because of who gave it to me. There wasn't anything really visually evident in the second piece but I think you can see my struggle from the outline of one of my other pieces. It relates to me because that shoe is something important to me, when I finally got it I was so excited because it was one of the shoes that I've wanted for so long and I don't get new shoes very often.
In the first one I chose pencil for sketching and then I decided that I should go over it with pen because it is a pure contour drawing and I wanted my lines to look super clean. Though going over it in pen could've been a mistake because on a few of the other tries I had messed up with the pen and made everything look off. In the second piece I chose to use pencil because it was really easy to make mistakes. Drawing the shoes and getting the details were something I couldn't mess up.
In the process of creating the first piece I made it took me so many tries to get what I wanted I kept messing up the different shapes and details. After I got what I wanted in pencil I decided to go over it in pen but I kept messing it up so I had to re do the tracing at least 5 times. Originally I didn't have the details, proportions or curves right but I think by the end of this I created a clean piece. My next steps could be changing my positions or making the background pretty or using a different elastic. The process of the second piece started with lot of different sketches and trying to get the shapes right. In the beginning I had a lot of difficulty with getting the correct beginning shape. If I added things to it I'd make things darker and maybe do the otherside with the logo.
