Artist Statement:
For all of my sketches I would say that the main idea that guided my artwork would be what's in front of me. My self-protrait is my face in a mirror so basically what was right in front of me was my face. For perspective I did a corner of my room that was right in front of me. And lastly for my still life I chose a lotion bottle because it was right in front of me.
For all of my sketches I only used graphite pencil as they are all just a sketch and didn't need color.
For my self-portrait I went through the process of staring at my face and trying to trace what I saw by looking but at some points such as my nose I would just try to make the best nose I could because noses are my weakness when drawing faces. For my perspective I went through the same process as my self-portrait but I already knew what that corner looked like so I didn't really need to stare at it as much as I did my face. And lastly for my still life I just had to look at the lotion bottle like I did with my self-portrait because I don't really look at what is on my desk very often.
