Asteroid Hitting Earth
Colored pencil, watercolor paper
9" x 6"
Artist Statement:
The main idea that guided my artwork is the ink spot because it was what I was referencing my drawing off of.
During the process of making this drawing, I only used colored pencils because I didn't feel the need to sketch it out first as it is a simple drawing.
When I first started creating this drawing I first thought of turning it into a war zone with a bomb flying through the sky, but I thought that was a little harsh and I also thought it would be easier to make it into an asteroid flying through the night sky. I made the moon in the upper left corner because I knew I wanted it to be in a corner, but I didn't want it to be in the same corner as the asteroid and I couldn't really move the asteroid because that was where the ink was.
