Artist Statement:
The main idea that guided me during this project is the habitat and realistic features of the Northern Pintail. I chose this duck because I loved how sleek the duck looked and how the pattern of the wings looked. It had very neutral colors and I loved that.
During this project, I started with a graphite pencil to sketch out my duck. I then started to color my duck with colored pencils and went over the colored pencils with markers. After my duck was finished, I started the water. I tried to add colors of the duck to the water, but I didn't like how it looked so I went over it with blue markers and colored pencils until I thought it looked like an oceanic color. I then created the sky with oil pastels and colored pencils. After I finished everything, I decided to add some land on the sides with a brown marker.
I started with sketching my duck into the perfect shape, then I took a colored pencil to get the details of the feathers and the duck in general, I also went over the colored pencil with a marker to add a more sleek look. I then colored the ocean, but I tried to add the duck's colors into the water but decided to just color over those spots. I then finished off with the coloring of the sky and adding some land.
