Artist Statement:
The main Idea that guided my work is the photo I have of my horse. This photo is one of many, but I chose it because it is getting closer to Christmas, and I thought that it would be the best one out of them all.
My artwork was made with charcoal sticks, charcoal pencils, a B pencil, a tortillion. I used these materials because they were what was easiest for me to create the lighter shades that my horse has.
For this artwork, I started by making grids on both my pastel paper and my reference photo to make it easier. I then started using charcoal and drawing upside down so that I could see the shapes differently. I started at the top and worked my way all the way down to the bottom, square by square, and row by row.
