Bird In Nature

The story behind this painting is that I had to find magazines that used a lot of texture in its images, so I used a nature magazine with an Entertainment Weekly as well. It relates to my life because my mother had these magazines and allowed me to use them.

I used a pencil to sketch the basic shapes in my collage on a canvas board. Then used acrylic paint to paint the entire painting. I then went in with a black pen for the small details.

I started with a pencil, and I just outlined the basic shapes—the bird, the Oscar, the chair, and the girl. I then used acrylic paint—I started with the green because that is the main color in the collage. The trees were difficult to get the correct hue of green. I then used blue for the flowers, but I started with the blue where I should've started with the yellow and white in the center. I used a mix of brown for the bird and reds for the chair. I used some yellows for the Oscar guy as well. My art evolved when I added the extra detail with the black pen. My next steps would be to add more dimension to the trees and the nature in the background.
