Charcoal Diesel

The story behind this piece is Diesel is my best friend's dog, because I don't own one and his photo was in my camera roll. This piece relates to my life because his photo was found in my camera roll.

I used charcoal pencils and some ink to create this piece.

I started by making a grid. 1.5 x 1.5 inches and started in the left upper corner and completed this project row by row until it was done. I used white charcoal pencil to create the highlights in the grass and on Diesel's face and body. I added ink to the grass and to the darker parts of Diesel's fur. My art evolved when I added the white charcoal. My next steps would be to make the grass more realistic.
