Space

flowers

7” x 11”

The story behind this piece is that we collected multiple leaves to glue onto a piece of paper but we had to have at least 5 negative spaces to draw later, we then copied the negative space onto a piece of bristle board, I then colored in the negative spaces. This piece relates to my life because I love nature and flowers.

I started with an H pencil and an eraser and then used pen, then I colored in the negative spaces with colored pencil and used black acrylic paint for the positive space.

I started by outlining the leaves onto a clear board and copied that onto a piece of bristle board, then I outlined those spots with pen and colored in the negative spots with red and orange colored pencil to resemble a red carnation in all of the negative spots, I then colored in the positive space with black acrylic paint. My art evolved when I added the black paint to the background making the flowers stand out more. My next steps would be to add definition and highlight to the carnations.
