Scratchboard
Scratchboard Final
8"x 10"
The story behind this piece is that the reference photo was just a random pick and it had a lot of contrast. This piece relates to my life because the subject of this piece is me and my best friend, Kaitlynn.
I used a number 2 pencil and the typical scratchboard tools to make this piece.
I started this piece with gridding the scratchboard with an inch by inch grid, then used my number 2 pencil to outline the basic highlights and shapes. After that I used the scratchboard tools to bring out the strongest highlights. My art evolved when I went slower when I was highlighting the faces and when I finished the hair. My next steps would be to take even more time on the faces.
