My Body of Work - The Last Classroom, The Tribute to Nike, The Creation of Adam’s Heart Attack, and Birth of Victoria, comments on the power of global brands to infiltrate traditional social structures. I am using formats reminiscent of Pop Art and advertising campaigns.

I invite the audience to reflect on contemporary issues such as toxic masculinity, female gender stereotypes, beauty standards, health problems (caused by unhealthy eating habits) and the disconnection and isolation caused by modern technology. By appropriation of four Renaissance artworks, I contrast these themes with the traditional values present during the Renaissance period.

Botticelli’s 'The Birth of Venus' portrays the Greek goddess of love and beauty. My appropriation contrasts this in ‘Birth of Victoria’, which uses Victoria’s Secret to reflect modern beauty’s inauthenticity. Masaccio’s 'The Tribute Money' has been appropriated to reflect modern toxic masculinity. Hence, this theme is represented through Nike’s reputation as a staple male clothing brand in ‘The Tribute to Nike’. Michelangelo’s 'The Creation of Adam' is appropriated in my artwork ‘The creation of Adam’s heart attack’ to portray societies obsession with fast food. Da Vinci’s The Last Supper was appropriated to highlight the dissociation between students represented in ‘The last Classroom’ due to technology invading the classroom.
